Project Objective

Arid Lands Intelligence

Defending the Pulse of the Headwaters

Water in the American West is the fundamental currency of life, requiring a new kind of vigilance as soil "thirst" and climate shifts accelerate. The Rio Grande Sentinel answers this call through Arid Lands Intelligence—a curated intelligence feed and data hub that moves beyond static reporting to provide the "geospatial truth" of the San Luis Valley.

By integrating real-time hydrology with field-level tactical data, we provide the narrative of the river’s health. We believe you cannot protect what you do not understand; this system ensures we have eyes on the ground and data in the stream to act as guardians of our most precious ecosystem.

Core Sentinel Projects

The Emma Dean Project

The Mobile Intelligence Hub

The Emma Dean serves as our mobile drone control center and technical nerve center. Named in the spirit of exploration, this mobile platform is designed to process hydrological data in the field, managing the telemetry and logistics required to monitor remote riparian corridors. It is the bridge between our digital models and the physical terrain, providing the power and processing needed to maintain our "Arid Lands Intelligence" feed from the most isolated reaches of the basin.

The Flying Kayak

Tactical Ground-Truth

While satellite data provides the "macro" view, The Flying Kayak provides the "micro" reality. This project focuses on the tactical deployment of aerial imaging directly from the river's surface. By capturing high-resolution 4K flight footage of riparian health, diversion structures, and bank conditions, The Flying Kayak "ground-truths" our hydrological models. It provides a visual validation layer that ensures our data isn't just a number on a screen, but a reflection of the real-world pulse of the Rio Grande.

The Sentinel Outputs

Recon Reports

Surgical field observations and "ground-truth" data packages that document infrastructure performance and riparian status.

Fishing & Stream Reports

Specialized hydrological insights translated for the sporting community, providing real-time flow and water quality data for active use on the water.

Arid Lands Intelligence Feed

The central hub for Western water policy, compact news, and shifting hydrological variables.
